Mr. Hetherington, a
resident of Houston, Texas, is married and has
three children. He graduated from the
University of Texas in 1969 with a Bachelor of
Business Administration degree in Finance. He was
also a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves
from 1968 through 1974.
Upon graduation,
Coldwell Banker & Company employed Mr.
Hetherington through 1978 as a commercial real
estate broker, specializing in the sale and
leasing of retail facilities, locating apartment
properties and the sale of existing apartment
projects.
In 1978, Mr.
Hetherington and a partner founded The Greystone
Group, a real estate firm specializing in the
development, construction, and management of
apartment communities. From 1978 to 1983, the
Greystone Group developed approximately 2,500
multi-housing units in the Texas market.
Greystone stressed quality development as is
indicated by the receipt of two consecutive
"Gold Nugget Awards" from the "Best Apartment
Project of 3 stories in the West" from Builder
Magazine in 1983 and 1984.
In 1984, Mr.
Hetherington formed Hetherington Interests,
Inc., which was involved in the purchase and
development of investment real estate.
In 1986, Mr.
Hetherington founded The Overbrook Company with
a partner for the purpose of developing and
managing multi-family apartment communities and
single-family residential subdivisions. From
1986 to 1991, The Overbrook Company developed
and acquired approximately 1500 multi-family
housing units in Texas, Ohio, and Virginia.
Single-family residential projects were
developed in Tennessee and Alabama.
In June 1991, Mr.
Hetherington joined the Farb organization as
President of The Farb Companies and President of
Farb Management Company. He was responsible for
management and operation of over 9,000
multi-family housing units in the Houston area.
During that time, the entire debt portfolio
totaling $150 Million was restructured and
refinanced. Much of the portfolio was
rehabilitated during that time.
From 1993 to 1998
Mr. Hetherington was involved with Embrey
Partners of San Antonio and the Creekstone Group
as a development consultant. He oversaw the
development of 2 new construction communities
for Embrey and the acquisition of 6 multi-family
communities with Creekstone. During that time,
he also served as a consultant to the City of
Houston Housing Authority.
From mid 1998 to
present Mr. David Hetherington has been a
partner in HK Capital, LLC with Ash Kumar and
one other partner. They have acquired a number
of multi-family communities in the Montrose area
and a large portion of South Houston. Mr.
Hetherington served as a member of the Board of
Directors of the Houston Apartment Association
from 1991 to 1993 and is currently a member of
the Board of Directors of The Post Oak School. [
